TRAILER maker Dunbier Marine Products has decided to concentrate on the biggest sector of Australian boating with its new trailer design.
Called the Dunbier Nipper, the new trailer is designed to suit aluminium and inflatable boats up to 4.5 metres _ the biggest selling sector in Australian boating. It also fits the growing list of motorised water toys, such as jet skis.
Surprisingly, Dunbier sends the trailer to buyers in kit form. This knocked-down form of supply enables the company to ship 144 of these complete trailers in a standard shipping container.
Dunbier says that because of the compact form of the finished product, it can deliver a new trailer overnight to most Australian destinations.
The kit for the new trailer includes the frame members, submersible stop and turning lights, and alloy wheels with four-ply tyres.
``Export markets for the new Nipper trailer have been found in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Lower shipping costs open new markets and we are looking at Asia and Europe," the managing director of Dunbier Marine Products, Russell Dunbier, said.
``Assembly of the trailer needs only a couple of standard ring spanners without any need for drilling and welding. It takes a couple of hours or less." All the trailer parts including the frame's fastening U-bolts are galvanised.
THE Sanctuary Cove International Boating Festival in Queensland will be held from 14-17 May at the cove's 330-berth waterfront marina and village.
According to Sanctuary Cove's Australasian boat sales director, Mr Rex Duncan, boat sales grew in November and December with a change in the type of buyer.
``Sellers have reduced their boat prices to market value and families are going out together to buy boats again," he said.
